About Your Hosts

Peter and Jenny grew up in Brisbane, but have also lived in Ipswich and on the Sunshine Coast.  They moved together to Moore from the northern suburbs of Brisbane.  While they have each had many houses, they are excited that Montrose is their first home together.

They have both had long professional careers – Jenny is a teacher and early childhood educator and Peter is a town planner and more recently worked on large masterplanned communities.

They both enjoy travelling and seeing new places and have travelled in Australia, Europe and Asia, and have both lived for extended periods in the UK.

They have six children between them who live in Brisbane, Melbourne and London.

They enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle including hiking, camping, kayaking, mountain biking and road cycling and love getting out and about in the Brisbane Valley as well as getting away for longer camping trips.  They also love music and getting out to see live bands.

Moore might be a small community, but it is very welcoming.  Moore has cafes,  galleries and a bike shop – not many country towns with a population of 300 have a bike shop!

Moore was originally known as Stanley Gate and then as Mooretown.

In July 1910 the town took the name of Moore from its railway station, which was named after John and William Moore, graziers of Colinton.
